Sam graduated from Redeemer University College with a degree in Theatre Arts and English in 2006. During his time at Redeemer, he read 54 plays, watched 38 theatrical productions, napped with a book covering his face so other people looking at him would think he was diligently reading at least 207 times, and wildly invented statistics about his education 9 times. Though Sam's academic prowess could be debated, his love for theatre is undeniable. He holds William Shakespeare, Edward Albee, and Bertolt Brecht in high regard. Sam has had the opportunity to get his hands dirty by being involved in just about every aspect of theatrical production. Highlights of his escapades include acting in productions of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Pseudolus) and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) (Himself), Stage Managing productions of Pippin and The Sound of Music, and being responsible for the lighting of My Fair Lady, Antigone, and most recently, The Full Monty. Sam feels strongly about theatre in the Hamilton region, and has been delighted to work with both Theatre Ancaster and the Westside Concert Theatre. He looks forward to being able to work with more local artists to make Hamilton a significant theatre hotspot. He is currently employed as the director and producer for Theatre Ancaster’s young company, where he gets to work with teenagers seeking to learn about and grow in their love for musical theatre. |
